The info strives to be young person led, helping young people to learn from each other and getting them to take part in deciding which activities and learning opportunities should be on offer. This way the young people get to explore relevant issues, learn things they are interested in knowing and do the things that they really want to do. Hebburn has a rich local culture, with a great deal of history. Some families have been living here for generations; others are newer arrivals with multicultural backgrounds. The club seeks to understand where the young people who come through its doors are coming from socially, culturally and mentally, and tailors its services to meet them where they are, support them, lead them on, and challenge them in appropriate ways. The project seeks to accommodate different levels of involvement. Some people simply like to drop in from time to time, whether it be for advice on careers or information on drugs or alcohol. Others seek achievements such as Duke of Edinburgh awards, volunteering opportunities, or qualifications that will enable them to develop socially and prepare them for college, work or training schemes. A collaborative approach is used, so that between the young people and the staff we can tailor a course of engagement that best suits the needs and wants of the group of young people. |
| What we offer: To young people we can offer a range of activities, programmes and opportunities. We like to see what they are interested in and develop something that suits the group. We can offer information and advice on careers, drugs, sexual health, things to do and places to go. We can provide support with developing your ideas for your group and your community and are always interested in hearing your suggestions for future projects. Some of the things which we have done in the past you can find on the projects page.
To schools, community groups, alternative education centres and youth offending services we can offer sessions based around various subjects. As we are committed to tackling current key issues some of the sessions we are able to offer focus on the following:
